As a small business here in the Okanagan, I know how important it is to support other local businesses. My dog, Cola, has been a guest at an amazing pet resort here in Kelowna - the Kelowna Pet Resort - and he loved it there.

This is the first edition of Cola’s Corner - his interviews with amazing local businesses. Today, Cola is talking to Diana from the Kelowna Pet Resort.

Cola: “Hi Diana! I am so excited to talk to you today and to see you again!”

Diana: “Hi Cola! Thank you for taking the time to interview me, I am pawsitively pumped for our meeting today.”

Cola: “When I stayed with you, I got the most amazing experience and got to stay in the Lap Dog Lodge, which I loved so much! It is so awesome that you offer separate areas for the big dogs from the little dogs (like me), and each has its own separate play area.”

Diana: “Yes, we loved having you stay at the pet resort. We designed the facilities at the Kelowna Pet Resort specifically to accommodate all types of dogs and their different personalities and needs. It can be quite intimidating as a new pup in a boarding experience so we provide spaces that are suitable for every type of dog. With you being a small dog, naturally you are best suited for our Lapdog Lodge with pups under 20lbs. Since there is only 10 suites in that facility, it is also less noisy and you can truly get to know some new furiends without being overwhelmed with the hustle and bustle of too many dogs. Just because you are little does not mean you get a smaller suite. Every pup in our care gets their own private oversized room. Chihuahua or Great Dane, there are no "classes" or "upgrades". All of our suites are the large, bright and cozy.

Our team members truly care about our guests and take the time to get to know you and what you might like. Perhaps it is just a full speed run in our grassy area, or a cuddle in the lap of a team member out in the sun on the grass.

We know you were nervous at first but you just needed a little extra TLC to come out of your shell. We remember you really liked to get lots of cuddles but also to have fun too and make new furiends.”

Cola: “The amount of attention you give to each dog when they stay with you is wonderful. When I came in to stay at the Kelowna Pet Resort for the first time being away from my mom, I was so sad and scared, but you took me in and let me hang out with you so that I had that little extra attention, which meant the world to me! You even sent my mom photos of me hanging out there having a blast, which meant so much to my mom!”

Diana: “Sometimes it is hard to leave your family and we know that. We will do whatever we can to take your mind off your worries you may be feeling in a new place. We have cozy cots with soft blankets, relaxing music and lots of one on one attention with the staff. We even have night lights for you all at night.

I think those little things helped settle you when you first came to visit.

Taking photos is something we enjoy doing. We know it also helped your mom feel more comfortable while she was away so she could enjoy her vacation.”

Cola: “I know you have a lot of pups that come to stay with you for the day at your Doggy Daycare. I check out your Instagram posts with my mom and those pups sure look like they are having so much fun!”

Diana: “The doggy daycare is so much fun! We love watching all of those waggy bums get out of the car in the morning ready for just the BEST DAY EVER!

We have our daycare split into two groups, one for pups over 25 lbs and one for our smaller pups. The size of the group is smaller than most daycares to ensure lots of one on one attention and add to the safety of our resort.”

Cola: “My mom was so thrilled to be partnered up with you in 2019 for the annual Santa Photo Day to raise funds for the Kelowna BCSPCA. She said it was so much fun and she met so many special pups and cats that came out to get their photo taken with Santa and to support such an amazing cause.”

Diana: “Your mom Erin did such an amazing job that day. She captured beautiful photos of pets with their families to raise money for such a good cause. We all had so much fun putting on that event for such an important charity like the BCSPCA. The guests that came that day to the event were so impressed with their photos and had so many laughs along the way as we attempted to squeak toys and ring bells to get their pets attention for the photos.”

Cola: “I loved talking to you today, Diana! Everyone at the Kelowna Pet Resort is amazing and you and your staff do such an amazing job with all of the dogs (like me) that come to stay with you! Have an amazing day!”

Diana: “Thank you for having me Cola!

I am so glad that I have met your wonderful pawrent Erin and that we get to look after you when your family goes away.

We hope to see you soon!”
