What if your dog cannot be off-leash?

“My dog cannot be off-leash. Can I still have a photo session?”

Of course! Most of the dogs that I photograph are on-leash and I can remove the leash later on in editing. My first priority is safety, so I ask that dogs are left on-leash during the session. I also abide by all of the local rules here in Kelowna and in the Okanagan from parks and trails for dogs being on-leash, and only use parks/trails/beaches where dogs are allowed.

Another important part of the discussion of being on-leash is in the planning part. Before your pet photo session takes place, we have a pre-session consultation and discuss all of the details of your session. If your dog is reactive to or afraid of people or other dogs, we plan the session to make it as comfortable as possible. This could be the location we choose (quiet location, or if your dog cannot safe be in any outdoor location, we could look at your backyard or an indoor session) or the time of day for the session (sunrise instead of sunset). When you book a session with me, there is so much that goes into the planning of your session, because I want both you and your dog to be comfortable and able to relax and have fun during your session.
